At AZBGC Canada, we are committed to empowering children, youth, and families through education, sports, healthcare, and community development. Throughout the year, we host fundraising and community engagement activities to raise funds, increase awareness, recruit volunteers, collect donated goods, and foster a strong sense of inclusion and belonging, both in Canada and in Uganda.
Our Programs & Events in Canada
Our events and programs in Canada are designed to raise awareness, engage professional volunteers, address systemic barriers to sport, and promote cultural education within our communities. Our activities include:
• Open gym programs for children and youth during the winter months
• The Muzungu Joe Legacy Golf Tournament
• Community basketball and soccer games
• Participation in Ottawa Race Weekend
• Arts and crafts sales at community events
• Annual fundraising events
• Information and awareness sessions
Throughout the year, we also visit and provide educational and cultural presentations especially during Black History Month, across all levels of education, including colleges and universities. In addition, we also provide educational and cultural presentations to summer camps, community organizations, government departments, and nursing and retirement homes.
